Community Environmental Educational Developments (CEED) Sunderland £29,849 This new 20-month project aims to redevelop an unused space at a supported housing project for young families into a shared garden. The project will be based in Hendon, Sunderland. Participants will design and create the garden and attend parent and child activity sessions which will increase the parents’ confidence in interacting with their children in an outdoor setting.
Headway Wearside Sunderland £28,152 This existing two-year project aims to deliver a range of activities for survivors of acquired brain injury and their families in Sunderland. There will be weekly supported access to the gym, art-based activities, fortnightly family peer support sessions with therapeutic relaxation sessions alongside, and monthly family/carer sessions, with speakers, workshops and information. Participants will help plan activities at quarterly meetings, and influence project delivery on an ongoing basis through providing regular informal feedback.
Social Chef Sunderland £23,007 This new two-year project will build on a recent pilot, involving original participants, while also bringing in the wider community. Participants will establish a "Cooking up Community" group in Hendon, an inner city area of Sunderland, cultivating food and cooking in a social environment, sharing recipes, connecting and having important conversations over food. The project will provide an opportunity for participants to form strong social links, by meeting regularly to do something positive together.
HOPS (Healing Opportunities Provision Scheme) Sunderland £18,634 This two-year project will provide weekly meetings for carers from the Sunderland area. These meetings will provide an opportunity for the carers to socialise, have lunch and enjoy informal activities. There will also be monthly away days providing the carers with opportunities to access therapies and activities. The intention is to provide the carers with some respite from the caring duties and enable them to share experiences, socialise and form friendships. A committee of carers will be established and shape the ongoing delivery and development of the project.
Pennywell Youth Project Sunderland £49,966 This new two-year scheme from Pennywell Youth Project aims to convert an underutilised community room into a community café for those who are unemployed in Pennywell in Sunderland. There will be a job club offering a different theme each week such as how to job search, how to create a CV and interview techniques. The intention of the project is to create a space where those who are experiencing unemployment can discuss issues, share concerns and offer support to each other. There will be the opportunity for residents to volunteer in the café to gain skills, experience and qualifications which may move them closer to the job market.
